Raise a bed
Nice modern wood-framed bed, but too low for an older customer with mobility issues. Leg extensions made from hardwood ply, glued and screwed, and finished with a varnish colour-matched to the headboard. Much more practical height now, nice and solid, and plenty of room for storage underneath.
Outbuilding doors rescued, redecorated
This is a substantial outbuilding on the grounds of a property which was due to be sold. All the doors (two single and one large double/garage door) needed to be spruced up. Restore an Edwardian outhouse window
Touch and go with this one. Lots of rotten wood removed or treated, new wood scarfed in, other flaws filled, (large!) gaps around the frame filled with foam. All wood primed, undercoated and painted. New mortar applied to the frame surround. Should be good for another 100-odd years.
Original 1970’s galvanised steel garage door
Original 1970’s galvanised steel garage door. Looking a bit tatty with rotten frame posts. Door stripped, etch primed and painted. Rotten frame wood removed/treated, filled, primed and new mortar applied. Jobs a good’un!
Custom-made Brown Oak Shelves
Made from unusual and very handsome Brown English Oak, which is a rare type of English Oak which has been infected by a certain fungus giving it this lovely natural browned colouration. Finished with clear oil and waxed. Uncoated cast brass brackets – but are they the right way up?
